Meet Minnie, a sweet senior looking for their forever home! Minnie, a medium-sized mix, has had a rough start in life, bouncing between homes for years, but now she's ready for stability and love.
IN SHELTER NOTES AND IDEAL HOME:
SIZE:
60 pounds
HOME TYPE:
House or Townhouse - No Apartments due to reactivity
CHILDREN:
Yes - Potentially compatible with a slow introduction to calm and respectful children.
CATS AND SMALL ANIMALS:
No - strong prey drive
OTHER DOGS:
No - has shown reactivity to other dogs. Minnie can do well with other calm dogs with a slow introduction but will need to be the only dog in the home as she does not do well sharing space or attention for too long.
ACTIVITY/ENERGY LEVEL:
Moderate; will need daily exercise, enrichment and mental stimulation but enjoys some daily down time as well. Minnie's foster parent describes her as being a total couch potatoes. She would much rather be on the couch than a long hike.
HUMAN COMPATIBILITY:
First time dog owner possible if prepared to work with some difficult behaviours (ex. reactivity & prey drive)
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS/NEEDS:
Minimum 1 In person training sessions or Good pup scholarship (Online) to work on the following; Basic training, Basic manners (jumping up, mouthing), Socialization, Reactivity and Prey Drive
HUMAN SOCIAL IN SHELTER:
Very human social she loves to spend lots of time with everyone he meets
FAVOURITE THINGS:
Sleeping on the couch, chasing toys, and giving kisses!
FOSTER HOME NOTES:
HOUSE TRAINING:
Minnie doesn't go the bathroom in the house. She will let her foster parents know when she needs to go outside.
CAR MANNERS:
She is nervous in the car at first, but settles down after a few minutes. She enjoys riding up front.
LEASH/ON WALK MANNERS:
Minnie walks fast at first and pulls some, but then she slows down and doesn't pull as much.
CRATE:
She loves her crate and will spend time in her crate even when not asked. She will go in her crate if she is asked to. Sometimes she may bark for a few minutes, but then she settles down.
KNOWN TRAINING CUES:
Minnie knows "come", "sit", "give me a paw".
