Sweet Pea, who is so aptly named, lived her past life as a puppy mill dog who was kept just to breed. Never having been socialized, this gorgeous girl with the sleek gray coat, has never known love, play, or human attention. She sits far back in her kennel run & is understandably shy with people. But...you can see that she wants to trust. She waits patiently while you leash her up & needs a bit of coaxing to exit her kennel run. And she is a bit hesitant about walking around in new places, but once in the big fenced yard, Sweet Pea starts to explore the world. You can see that this is the first time she has felt grass under her feet. And the more time she spends in the fenced yard on a beautiful day, the more she starts gaining confidence. After a while, she trots around to every corner of the yard, sniffing the smells of freedom. And then she comes over to you & asks for affection & reassurance. She is a lovely, gentle, giant of a girl who will undoubtedly blossom & bond with patient adopters. When the volunteers who took her into the fenced yard for 30 minutes put her back in her kennel run, Sweet Pea then stood right in front of her kennel door, trying to catch the attention of these volunteers again, just begging to return to that nice grassy yard. This big, beautiful, very gentle girl is a definite work in progress, just waiting for adopters to show her love, patience, & consistency in exchange for everlasting gratitude.
