Meet Theon!

Maybe you've seen him on social media, or maybe you were just browsing our website- either way, you're here now because you're hooked. It's okay, we understand, and it's best not to fight it. Those soft brown eyes of his are just soulful! He's gotten so smooth with his classic puppy eyes tactic that he's snuggled his way right into the hearts of numerous volunteers and staff members. Will he win you over next?

More about Theon:
Theon is a petite, young American Staffordshire mix who weighs in at around 40 pounds - the perfect size for even the most discerning of landlords. His favorite activity is power-napping in a spot of sunlight, or on his comfortable dog bed. Fair warning, he totally snores! (And it's adorable.) He is housebroken and crate trained, loves most other dogs and has cohabitated with a parrot and a small dog. While he is very interested in the bird, he is easily redirected elsewhere. As with all dog-small animal co-housing situations, SAS recommends safety first! Never leave dogs and small animals, such as birds and small mammals, alone unsupervised.

He has been fostered with all sizes of other dogs and has been a rockstar in playgroups at the shelter. He tends to prefer female dogs (you'll notice that is a theme with him) but he happily plays with neutered males who are on his wavelength. He adjusts his play style to match the dog he is with and responds beautifully to voice commands. He learns very quickly and will do anything for a bit of cheese treat. Did we also mention that he loves watersports? Check out his video in the kiddie pool!

So, what's the catch? Well, Theon has a thing. He's not particularly fond of male-presenting folx, and that's okay. SAS has several programs available to help support a long-term foster parent or adopter who is interested in helping Theon work through his trauma so he can show his sweet, loving soul to all flavors of humans.

Interested? Reach out to our team directly via the information below or swing by the shelter during our open hours. We'll go over all available behavior and medical notes with you in person and arrange for a meet'n'greet to see how fast this sweet casanova wins you over.

Pets are complex beings and prior to adoption, interested adopters will be counseled by a staff member to discuss the specific needs for each animal. This will include reviewing all known medical and behavior information.

** Please note that some animals will receive numerous inquiries, sometimes more than we can process. We appreciate your understanding and patience. **
