Hello, my name is Persephone (pronounced: per-sef-o-knee). I got my name from the Greek goddess of Spring. I am a calm, gentle, loving girl who will greet you quietly and relish your attention while I show off my "sit" and "shake." I behave great on a leash and really enjoy a leisurely walk. You will notice a shaved square patch on my back where I am currently being treated for Heart Worm disease (I like to call it my beauty mark). Heart worms can be serious, but my friends at Columbus Humane use a medication that is very effective and they expect me to be able to run and play with my new family without any long-term effects once my treatment is completed. If you can find it in your heart to give me a loving home, I promise I will be grateful and my heart will sing. I hope you come and meet me soon.

Just so you know, she is currently being treated for heartworm disease. Heartworms are parasitic worms that live in the heart and lungs of infected dogs. It can cause severe lung disease and even heart failure and damage to other organs in the body. But her friends at Columbus Humane are giving her treatments so she can run and play with her family once she completes her treatments, and most dogs do not show any long-term effects after finishing proper heartworm treatment. Please talk to an adoption counselor for more information: (614) 777-7387 ext. 218 or 219.
