River is a sweet, friendly and gentle boy who loves pets, play, napping in cozy spots and climbing cat trees. A huge fan of treats, you just have to shake a bag or crinkle the wrapper of a tube treat and he will come running! River likes to check-out what's happening, look out windows and watch Cat TV/videos. He will greet you at the door at times and even follow you and the other cats around. River enjoys a variety of toys and play - on his own, interactive play, and playing, running around and wrestling with other cats, though he is gentle and submissive. River also enjoys his ‘me time' and takes afternoon naps in a kitty cave or in a cat tree by the window, soaking up the sun or the view. When he's getting pets, River is "all in" - curving/stretching his back up as high as he can, or leaning deeply into cheek and chin scritches. River has an adorable habit of rolling over or laying on his side or on his back with his paws in the air, or sitting in half-propped up positions and just looking up at you. River enjoys walking on your lap, lounging nearby and he can be picked up and held briefly but he doesn't like being cuddled and he's not a lap cat - yet. But the potential is definitely there! River would do well in a home with adults and older children who can respect his boundaries and where he can get lots of pets/affection and play, ideally with a friendly and playful cat as a buddy. Dogs are unknown.
Found as a stray on a farm, River can by shy for a few days but he warms up quickly, especially with interactive play and treats. In foster, he still startles at loud noises and sudden movements but he recovers quickly. He is definitely enjoying his indoor life.
