Morpheus is a very sweet orange domestic shorthair and needs to be the only pet in the household. He is aggressive and territorial with cats and is not a fan of dogs. He is extremely friendly towards people and children and is super snuggly. He does seem to have a touch of separation anxiety and likes to be at the center of the action whenever possible. He is very talkative and will regularly have full length conversations with you, the cars outside, the trees, and anything else he encounters. Morpheus also enjoys going on walks with you, preferably off leash (though possible), he just likes to follow around/ behind. He does enjoy being outside but only with you as he has experienced trauma outside. He does respond to his name being called but responds better to a specific vocal cue of two kissy sounds followed by two tongue clicks. Though he has outdoor experience, it is not recommended for him to be an indoor/ outdoor cat, and he generally prefers to stay inside.

One chilly December night, Morpheus walked into our garage and decided he lived with us after being dumped (confirmed) by his previous owners in Athens. From our understanding his previous family kicked him out of the house for several weeks/ months and survived by the kindness of his neighbors. Due to this, he does have a touch of resource scarcity mindset, and feels somewhat entitled to your food, even if it's spicy. He is still working on some house rules such as "no jumping on the counter", but is a people pleaser and loves positive affirmations/ reinforcements. He learns very quickly and is excited to be in a family setting.

He has been neutered, successfully treated for worms, is chipped, and is up to date on vaccines. He does not have any known dietary restrictions or food allergies. Morpheus is litter box-trained but does have a strong case of "orange cat personality". He is still learning how to play with toys and sit in your lap, but he is getting there! He is not currently taking any medication. Morpheus is food motivated, abundantly playful, and very curious. Morpheus is a happy drooler and his nasal drip does have a bit of an odor, though multiple vets have said he's just fine, he's just affectionately stinky.

We love him deeply and we desperately want to keep him, but he needs a single pet household, and we cannot provide that for him. The ideal candidate for Morpheus is a pet free home with a person/ family that has at least one person in the home the majority of the day. This person/ family must be patient as he is orange and has some learning to do still on "how to be a polite gentleman" in the house. If you are looking for your partner in crime or someone to play with your children/ grandchildren for you, Morphy is your guy.
