Facebook Update Jan 29: Perhaps you are in the market for a 2 yr old Heeler mix!  Perhaps you're searching for a slightly timid guy who's working super hard in foster care and making wonderful progress!!  If you answered "Yes" and "Yes" then look no further than BANDIT and ask for Bandit today!

Our handsome friend has been doing well in foster care and his foster mom has wonderful detail on his progress:*Still scared of lots of things but we are making progress with toys- no squeaky toys for him- quiet ones are preferred.*Good in the car as a back seat driver!*Loves treats!*Sweet with other dogs.*Good dog inside the house.  Sleeps on the sofa, his bed or human bed.  No inappropriate chewing.  *Housebroken*Happy to chill in the house alone especially if he can watch tv!

More about me March 31: Expect to be impressed!!   BANDIT is so stunning and handsome and talk about head turning!  To match his striking exterior,  Bandit is soft and kind and he's loaded with a vast array of pet skills that surely will tempt you to say, "You're coming home with me."
Life has not always been an easy street for our Heeler mix.  Found as a stray running along Hwy 123,  it took some very diligent animal lovers to catch him.  He was in terrible shape with a beat up face, evidence of BB's in his coat, had oil all in his fur and he was terrified.  Something truly awful and terrible had happened to him and he was in full panic mode.

Fast forward many weeks and his foster mom absolutely beams when talking about him and sharing him with others.  He has come so far and he's ready to be launched!  Very polite, calm, chill and sweet natured,  he's very submissive by nature (to humans and also other dogs) and while he can be a little reserved when you first meet (especially larger men), the most warm, doting and loving dog is very much within YOUR reach.  He spends some of his days "working" in a law office where he quickly made fast friends with all the staff and politely and beautifully sits and observes clients as they come and go in the office area.  He's quiet, hardly makes a peep and he is dearly loved by the staff!   In the home environment,  he's excellent.  He can be left alone for reasonable hours at a time and is not destructive and enjoys chilling on his doggy bed and more recently the sofa.  He's housebroken and is such a good boy. He is NOT a fan of metal crates ...in fact he is terrified of them...but as good as he is on his own in a home alone,  a crate is never needed.

Bandit, as we mentioned, suffered some type of trauma and to this end he can startle very easily.  His foster mom still discovers everyday noises which make him hit the floor flat with his paws digging in the ground for safety...think vacuum, the first time the tv was turned on, squeaky toys to name a few.  He's now a huge fan of the TV and enjoys sitting and watching it but the squeaky toys and vacuum still frighten him very much.  His foster mom simply invites him to sit in the car while vacuuming and he's fine.  Fluffy, non squeaky toys he really enjoys but be advised he will quickly gut them and create snow in your home!  Raw hide and Nala type bones he enjoys as well as tug of war rope type toys and are good options for him.  Speaking of cars, he is great in the car.  The back seat area is his preference where he will gladly stretch out and enjoy the ride!
Bandit is still settling in and each day is a day of discovery for his foster mom.   He's now starting to learn commands like "Sit" and it's only recently for example,  that he's been playing with toys and really showing his goofy, at ease pet style.  When it's nap time,  it's now not unusual to find him belly up and legs in the air- no doubt a true sign of comfort and relaxation.

So what works for our good friend?   Humans that are patient and who will allow Bandit to settle in and embrace his quirks will find the most amazing friend and companion pet in Bandit.  He routinely has play dates with other dogs so a home with a dog on hand is an option for him.   He loves hiking and just completed a 6 mi hike!  One of his favorite snacks is a hard boiled egg.  He will bat it around and then eat it but curiously, balls (ie toy balls) frighten him.   With plenty more pet layers still undiscovered,  will YOU be the one to tap in and enjoy them all??   We are super excited to now be able to present Bandit to YOU as he's come so far and is truly an amazing and magnificent being.  Please ask for him today. He will warm your heart as much as he does ours.
