Meet Athena, a turtle looking for a home. Turtles are strong swimmers and spend a majority of their time in the water, the rest of the time they're basking to regulate their body temperature. They need a water filtration system, a water heater, a basking area and a basking lamp. What does all this mean for Athena? It means that we need an adopter who can give her everything she needs to be healthy and happy. A tank or habitat with a minimum of 50 gallons of water for now, and the ability to purchase and house a minimum 90-120 gallon tank or habitat. A large, clean pond on an adopter's property is also an option, with approval from staff. The necessary equipment, such as a water heater, lamps, filtration system, and the ability to afford replacement bulbs and an increase in the electric bill from running said equipment. We know that such an expense is a tough ask, but we also know that Hercules is very worth it. It's not her fault that she was born into the pet trade rather than a pond.
