Meet Hershey!
Hershey arrived at the shelter with his sweet submissive sister Lilly. Lilly was adopted and now it is Hershey's turn to find his new family!
We think Hershey did well with his sister because she let him be the star of the show. He has since let us know that he will rule the roost in his next home. That means he must go to a family without any other dogs. He is not willing to share his toys, food and most importantly his people! Why should he have to share? He's adorable!
Hershey has been a great guest during our Spring Animal Camp, birthday parties and kid's movie nights held at Heritage Humane Society. He does well with kids and the people he has met here at the shelter. Our volunteers have taken him on fieldtrips to a senior living community, Colonial Williamsburg and William & Mary and he has done well with everyone he met. With that said, it will be important to watch for possessiveness in the home. What we know of his history would strongly imply that he might become possessive of one (or more) family members, even towards other members of the household.

One of Hershey's endearing quirks is his tendency to chatter his teeth when he's truly excited. Think of it as his own happy little jingle to let you know he's thrilled to see you!
