Hi I'm Little Man! I am 7-years-young, 21 pounds, and fully grown! The nice people here at the rescue say I'm a Yorkshire/Norfolk Terrier mix, but they also like to call me "Fluffy Butt" or "Dootie". I am a pretty special boy looking for a pretty special forever home. I came from another shelter that was noisy and scary, so I have a hard time trusting new people and learning new things, but I have worked hard in the last few years! I take a little more time to warm up to a new person, so multiple meetings will help me learn to bond with my new person(s). Children are scary, noisy, and unpredictable, so it would be best if I were in a home where there are no children. If there are visiting children, I would have to be separated into a room where children would not be able to get to me. Young children are cuter from a distance, but if it is not possible to have a room away, then I might not be a good fit for your home.
I would do best as the only pet in the home, because I do not get along well with others. Because I can be a bit iffy being leashed by new people, and do not get along well with others, a physical fenced in yard is required for me, at this time. I can still be scared when people would try to leash me, but with help from my friends at the rescue, I am learning that leashes are not that bad! Once I feel comfortable enough with the person trying to leash me, I love to go on walks, although for me it is more like a run, so a person who is able to keep up with me, would be wonderful! I am a very independent boy, but I still love pets and affection from people I am comfortable with! Because I can still be very scared of people hurting me, I will usually not let them touch me until they have gained my trust.
I do keep my kennel clean, and I know right where to go when I hear the word "potty." I can be a little over dramatic, but with vaccinations, nail trims, or haircuts, I will have to be sedated completely, as it can be pretty scary to see someone coming at you with needles, scissors, and toenail clippers! Also, my barking can make people upset, so a home with shared walls would not be the best fit for me! I am a very well-behaved boy who is not destructive in my kennel, so I get to have my own toddler bed, a cot with a tent attachment, a chair, and of course, my favorite bin of toys! I love that they treat me just like family, and that I still get the comfort of being in a home!
Although, I do not like other dogs, I promise to love you, greet you with a happy tail wag, and will even crawl into your lap to give kisses, once we have officially bonded. If you would like to give me a chance, I would love a home that will be patient with me while I learn to bond with my new family, and those who will take the time to learn about my quirks!
