Zoe was born with a moderate form of the condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia, which is a byproduct of the cerebellum being underdeveloped at birth. The cerebellum controls fine motor skills and coordination, which means kitties like Zoe need a family who can set her up for success in a home environment that helps her navigate the world on her unique terms. Cats with moderate CH will have noticeable head tremors and usually climb, instead of jump, to where they want to go. It often appears as if the ground they're walking on is unsteady, as they walk in a wide stance to maintain balance.

Zoe needs some basic modifications in her current territory. This looks like placing area rugs in strategic places, placing bumpers around her play area, and flooring that she can grip on to help her stay upright when she runs and plays. Zoe can be a little messy due to her uninhibited movements, but has proven to be extemely capable when she's supported in her efforts. Zoe can also use a normal litter box, and eats well on her own. We do recommend her adopter stay on top of keeping her litter clean since she tends to fall over when she uses the box.

In short, Zoe has a good life quality and makes up in personality what she might lack in motor skills! She is spunky, sweet, and brings a smile to anyone's face that meets her. This is one amazingly resilient feline! She is currently available for adoption and taking visitors here at the shelter during our open adoption hours.
