Come meet one of my favorite cats at the SPCA, Poppy. Yes he's a mature, orange and white long haired male cat. Somewhat thin and scraggly, his fur a little disheveled, some think "not much to look at" but I know he is truly "Special" - a gentle soul that wants to be loved. He's had a difficult life so far. He came to us as a stray so we are unsure how long he had been in this predicament. Being a homeless feline is very stressful and difficult. Besides being alone, maybe for the first time, away from their litter mates or human family, not knowing when other cats or dogs may attack, when humans may try to harm or catch you, when or where you will find food are some of the problems they face. Poppy is adjusting to the shelter environment, living with the other felines in his habitat and learning to trust the staff and volunteers. He seemed a little wary and withdrawn when we first met so I took it slow meeting him, letting us get to know each other, letting him sniff my hand and know I was safe. We became friends after a few visits. And he welcomes me with putting his head under my hand and allowing human touch. Poppy is a "low energy" kind of guy, not interested in toys or playing. A nice quiet home with "experienced cat people" where he could share the couch or recliner is his more his speed. Where he can take his time and settle in. Poppy gets along with the other felines in his habitat so may be fine with another feline given a slow introduction. Unsure about a dog. Please come in and visit the SPCA, Open your eyes and heart, you may just find that special friend. *Required teenage or adult only home due to low tolerance of handling*
