***** UPDATE *****
***** AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION *****

It's senior adoption month, y'all, and we'd like to reintroduce you to Peanut Brittle. Peanut has been living with a wonderful foster mama who has been caring for him for many months. He has had some health issues that needed to be addressed and then monitored for a time. Today, Peanut is doing so well that he's asking for you to please re-consider him. If you cannot provide a loving home for him, maybe you know someone who can? Please share!

Age: 9 years, 10 months

Weight: 23 pounds

Health: His health is good with the exception of his Cushing's disease and eye issues but both are well controlled with medications. He takes Vetoryl for his Cushing's and that seems to help tremendously. He has several eye medications (3) and is holding his own with the good eye. The cataract surgery was a huge success -- he sees so much better now! We are planning to remove his left eye (the bad one) prior to his adoption or whenever it is determined to be the best time.

Demeanor: Sweet, couch potato, vocal

Likes: Snuggling, sleeping in your bed, burrowing under blankets, eating treats, most dogs

Dislikes: Quick hand movements, being picked up, unfamiliar surroundings, sharing toys

Manners: Crate trained (not his favorite but will sleep there), leash trained, housebroken

Fenced Yard Required: No if always kept on leash

Tidbits: Peanut Brittle will need a quiet and stable home. He's mellow and likes his environment to match (he's not down with a lot of excitement). He prefers older, female and same-tempered dogs. The young fosters pups that come and go aren't his favorite. He absolutely must have a warm and cozy place to lounge in the sun and be lazy.

As mentioned above, he does have Cushing's disease and some eye issues. He is a very good boy when taking his meds. He allows his foster mama to bug him several times a day to administer his eye drops (but then gets extra love when he's done). In addition, he is on a 6-month check-up schedule for his Cushing's.

A retired person who is home a lot would be wonderful. Older children (12+) would be okay. He does not require long walks or strenuous exercise. He's more couch potato than whirling dervish. A plus, but not necessary, would be someone who is familiar with Cushing's. Our little Peanut has had a rough past and now needs stability and the best for his senior years.

Who can give our boy the life he deserves?? If interested, please apply: http://btrnc.org/home/adoption_information.

Have a lovely evening,
BTRNC
