"Just because an animal is large, it doesn't mean he doesn't want kindness..." (A.A. Milne)

Much like his namesake, the famous Winnie the Pooh, SCCR's Pooh Bear has a pretty great outlook on life. He's a 2-year-old Pit Bull Mix who came to SCCR by way of a busy Chicago shelter. He had a serious eye infection at the time, which has been treated but has left sweet Pooh Bear blind in one eye and with limited sight in the other. Somehow he manages just fine and doesn't let it cramp his style one bit.

His foster mom says, "He is the most gentle loving pup ever & he loves kids so, so much. He is super friendly with all people. Pooh Bear is the most lovable, cuddly, lap pup ever, he chills out & is just awesome."

"Some people talk to animals. Not many listen though. That's the problem." (A.A. Milne)

We could all learn something from this take-it-as-it-comes dog. Pooh Bear (62 pounds) has mild bilateral hip dysplasia and mild patellar luxation degenerative changes to both knees. He is starting joint supplements for those issues but he runs and plays just fine. It seems nothing can dampen his joy for life.

Pooh Bear is housebroken and does not need a crate. He plays well with all of the dogs (large and small) in his foster home and even tolerates the cats. He's truly a happy, well-adjusted guy. His foster mom says, "He has an amazing soul."

"You can't stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes." (A.A. Milne)

Venturing out of his corner of the Forest, Pooh Bear will be attending SCCR adoption events, looking for his own version of Christopher Robin. The lucky family that adopts this guy will need to understand his special needs but should also be prepared to learn a whole lot about love and joy. This dog could teach us all a little something.

Please check our events page at http://www.SecondCityCanineRescue.org to find where this dog may be shown this weekend. If you are interested in adopting this dog, you must send an application or email us at adoptions@sccrescue.org prior to a Saturday Adoption Event so we know you plan on attending. If we do not receive any communication from you, the dog may be adopted out at our event prior to 12 pm if the perfect home comes along :-)

The breed or breed mix listed for each dog is simply a guess. The profile software program requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. However, visual breed identification is unreliable. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess. Dogs are individuals.

Please understand, we only adopt our animals out near Chicagoland... we are sorry but we cannot accept any out of state applications. We look forward to speaking with you!
