Hi! My name is Martee and I am a Australian Cattle Dog/Spaniel mix. At only four months old and 25 pounds (I'm still growing!), I had a rough beginning on the island of St. Maarten. I was part of a large shipment of dogs that was evacuated from the island after it was destroyed by a hurricane. But that doesn't stop me from being a positive and upbeat pup! I'm living life to its fullest: running around outside with my dog friends, playing tug-of-war, and snuggling with my foster people.

I am learning SO much here. I am getting used to the crate and have learned to go potty outside. I even know commands like sit, down, off, go potty, and no! I love seeing the happiness on my foster mom's face when I do what she asks. It usually means that a treat will be coming soon after, which gets me super excited (but I know to take it gently). I do love my food.

You'll see right away that I am full of puppy fun: stealing tissues out of the box, running around until I can't anymore, crashing after running around, and, of course, always looking so darn cute. My adult teeth are just coming in so I love to chew. Rope toys, bones, Kongs, I'm not picky!

Hmm... there is so much more to tell you! I enjoy my walks and am good in the car. I love the other two dogs in my foster home: we can play for hours! I would really love my new home to have a playmate dog for me! One of my many skills is playing fetch. Boy, wait 'til you see me retrieve that ball! I also love giving kisses and cuddling with my people. My foster mom just goes on and on about what a great pup I am. She says my silliness and curiosity will make a family so happy some day. Will you take me in for the next chapter of my life?

Please check our events page at to find where this dog may be shown this weekend. If you are interested in adopting this dog, you must send an application or email us at prior to a Saturday Adoption Event so we know you plan on attending. If we do not receive any communication from you, the dog may be adopted out at our event prior to 12 pm if the perfect home comes along :-)

The breed or breed mix listed for each dog is simply a guess. The profile software program requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. However, visual breed identification is unreliable. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess. Dogs are individuals.

Please understand, we only adopt our animals out near Chicagoland... we are sorry but we cannot accept any out of state applications. We look forward to speaking with you!
