Mary Jane (MJ) is a 50 pound 2-3 year-old American Staffordshire Doberman Pinscher mix with some German Shorthaired Pointer and Lab mixed in (she has been DNA tested so we actually know what she is :). She was given up when her owners were moving and didn't take her with. They must have spent a lot of time with her as she knows several commands (sit, down, roll over, paw) and listens very well when you call. MJ is currently in training to improve her leash skills. She is housebroken and crate trained. She is being fostered with two other dogs and does great with small groups of dogs at doggy day care, but shows a bit too much interest in cats, so a cat-free home only.

Mary Jane is an athlete! She is an amazing Frisbee player (her FAVORITE thing to do) and loves to play fetch, chasing and bringing back any ball you throw. Mary Jane is uncomfortable around new people so her new family MUST have lots of patience, give her space and let her come to you at her own pace. Frisbee, fetch, and treats will help speed that process. Once you are in Mary Jane's inner circle of special people, she is a big love bug and doesn't think she's too big to lay in your lap! Because of her special personality, MJ would do best in a home with older children and one that doesn't have a lot new people coming in and out. So, if you have a decent throwing arm and have patience to let her get comfortable, Mary Jane might be just the dog for you!!

ADOPTION FEE: $300 The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations including rabies, HW test if age appropriate, de-worming, microchip, fecal, spay or neuter, Heartworm and flea and tick preventative. ADOPTION PROCESS: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application online at Once we review the applications, those applicants that are thought to be a good match will be contacted as quickly as possible. We ask that you please be patient with us as we are all volunteers. Then a telephone interview will take place, references checked and a home visit will be conducted. We will then arrange for you to meet the dog. We require that all family members, including current dogs meet the dog prior to adoption. We put all of the known information in the animals description. If the animal is listed on the website, we are still accepting applications for that animal. We only remove the animal when the final adoption paperwork is signed. The best way to contact us is by email at It is very difficult for the limited numbers of volunteers to return all calls. Thank you.
