It's hard to get a picture of this wigglebottom, because every time we bend down to get at her eye level, Mother Gothel, 9, moves in for a full-body hug. She's been at PAWS Atlanta such a long time now, more than 2 years. That's a long time in the life of a dog. We're hoping to find Mother Gothel a foster home where she can relax and feel good. She's been battling a non-contagious skin condition for months, and she just cannot seem to fully shake it. We're beginning to see she cannot really heal until she gets a break from the stress of shelter life. She's lived in our medical unit, where there is less noise and commotion. But, the trade off is she doesn't get seen as much as the other dogs, and we suspect Mama G is lonely. She's incredibly people-focused, so she craves interaction. She keeps her kennel perfectly tidy and she takes her twice a day medication like a champion. Mama G asks very little of our caretakers and is one of our easiet guests. She just needs a break - to breathe, to heal, to feel what it is to be in a home again, even if it's a temporary home. Her one request is to be an only dog. She's not typically leash-reactive on walks, but she just doesn't seem to enjoy the close company of other dogs. After spending so much time in a crowded shelter, we understand, and we hope you will, too. Mama G is a staff favorite, and she's such a good dog. It's her turn, don't you think? If you would like to talk about fostering Mother G (or maybe even fostering-to-adopt her), please email Laura McKelvey at lmckelvey@pawsatlanta.org.
