Name, age, breed: Athena, 2yrs, Boxer mix

Likes: Cuddling, attention, playing with her toys, hard playing with foster grandson, fetching, being outdoors, being with her people, car rides, chasing squirrels, treats, long walks, running, jumping and, positive reinforcement. Athena likes to kiss and can be excessive with her licking.

Dislikes: other dogs, bum scratches

What would be the ideal home? Athena is a very high energy girl. She needs a fenced yard and ideally a large space to run and do zoomies. She would not be a good apartment dweller. There should be no other dogs in the home.

Good with other cats? Unknown

Good with dogs? No

Good with children? Has been with a pre-teen boy and enjoys playing hard with him, running together in the park, fetching and chasing then back in the house to cuddle and watch TV.

Temperament: Has a strong personality; occasionally stubborn but mostly gentle. She is independent but wants companionship, social and outgoing, intelligent, happy and playful.

Motivators? Food and treats. She can focus and will do almost anything for a treat.

Any commands? Is a good listener (generally) and follows instructions. Sit (with a treat), down, off, stay, stop, no and out.

House trained? Yes

Crate trained? Unknown

How long will it take to settle into a new environment? 3-3-3 rule: First 3 days - Your dog may be overwhelmed and may hide, have a lack of appetite, or test boundaries. Give them space and time to adjust in a quiet room with their bed, food, water, and toys. 3 weeks - Your dog may start to settle in and their personality will emerge. You can expect behavior issues to arise, so set boundaries and expectations with positive reinforcement training. 3 months - Your dog should be comfortable and acclimated to your home. They should know their routine and expect meals and enrichment at specific times.

Any special needs or traits an adopter should know? Athena will be cautious at first but will be quick to adapt, likely a few weeks before she feels safe and secure. She will still require ample time to fully settle into her new surroundings and to fully trust her new humans.

She sleeps alone at night, does not bark or cry. She is always very happy to greet her caregiver when she wakes up in the morning. She needs a routine, consistency, structure and needs to know from the outset who the leader is.

She is a very loving and beautiful natured dog. In a loving and gentle environment, Athena will be a wonderful and loyal pet. She has been a joy to foster.

Medical: On a vet prescribed Gastro diet, on medication for allergies, on medication for anxiety, Dental Malocclusion (no treatment needed)
