Bubba - our bi-colored senior - has spent the majority of his life here at the shelter... over 6 years.
This past December, everything finally started to change. Mason saw Bubba for who he truly is-the dog so many of us have been lucky enough to know and love. He gave Bubba a break from shelter life, fostering him and allowing him to decompress and just be a dog. For those few months, Bubba got a glimpse of what life outside these walls could feel like.
In March, Mason had to leave town for personal reasons, and Bubba returned to us. We're doing everything we can to keep him comfortable and out of the chaos-but the truth is, Bubba deserves more than this.
What we've learned about Bubba:
While he can still be cautious with new people, he's become much more trusting and open. He does best as the only pet and would do well with older, respectful children.
He may pull on the leash at first when he catches that first whiff of fresh air, but quickly settles in and walks beautifully. Bubba loves being with his people-playing tug, going for long walks, sunbathing, and enjoying his treats.
He is almost completely housebroken and does well when left alone, but after spending so many years in a shelter, he would truly thrive in a home where someone is around more often than not-and we can't blame him.
Our biggest wish is to find Bubba a home long before his 11th birthday in August.
For so long, Bubba has been overlooked and misunderstood because of how he struggled behind kennel doors. But that's not who he is. Now that we've seen the real Bubba, it's his turn-his chance to finally live a carefree, spoiled life in a home that sees him for who he truly is. ??
