Meet Kate!
Kate's journey hasn't been the easiest-but her heart is pure gold. She and her rowdy brother Bosley were found roaming the streets together before being picked up by Romulus Animal Control. When the shelter needed help during inspection season, we welcomed the pair into our care. It didn't take long for Kate to win us over with her soft eyes and even softer spirit, and when the time came to return them, we knew we couldn't let her (or Bosley) go.
Kate is a quiet, calm soul-the yin to her brother's yang. While Bosley brought the energy, Kate brought the comfort. And though we're thrilled to share that Bosley has now found his forever home, sweet Kate is still searching for hers.
She may be shy at first, but once she feels safe, she blossoms into a loving, affectionate companion who simply adores human attention. She's happiest by your side, soaking up snuggles and leaning in for gentle pets.
While she's not overly playful with other dogs, she's done well in group settings and prefers to quietly observe or stay close to her favorite people. Toys aren't really her thing, but cuddles? She's a pro.
Kate underwent surgery for entropion (a condition where her eyelashes were painfully rubbing against her eyes). She is currently going again for an additional surgery to refine the appearance she has from her first surgery. Kates eyes may have a slightly different appearance going forward, but her vision and comfort are vastly improved.
Kate would thrive in a moderately active home, possibly with another gentle dog companion. While we haven't formally tested her with cats or kids, her temperament suggests she could do well with respectful children who understand her quiet nature.
If you're looking for a calm, loyal, and affectionate dog who just wants to be loved, Kate might be your perfect match. Come meet her and see the gentle magic she brings.

If you would like to meet Kate, please submit an application for her on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. She is spayed, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $250, which covers part of the medical care she has received.
**Please note that the breed listed for each of our dogs is a rough estimate unless DNA results are provided in their Bio. All strays have rough estimates of their age based on the condition of their teeth.
Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.
