Foster Mom says that I'm the apple of her eye, and we're just starting to get know each other! What she's learned about me in the past two days:
1) I'm fully housebroken.
2) I am incredibly adorbs, partly because I'm so affectionate, partly because I have "awesome energy" in all the best ways (as in "vibe" and not "energy level" because I'm actually really chill.)
3) I'm not a picky eater (I eat ALMOST everything in my bowl and eat it quickly but leave a few pieces behind - kind of like a cultural thing to let her know that I both appreciate the food and had enough) and although I appreciate a good treat, they don't motivate me.
4) What motivates me is...love, praise, being close, and mostly - really - clarity in what I'm supposed to do because I really WANT to do what you want me to do, I just need explicit instructions. I know it's something that takes some time - this figuring out body language, oral language, etc. We're making progress, though.
5) I'm crate trained but it's not my fave condition. I've shown her so far that I'm trustworthy in the house - I haven't touched a single thing that she hasn't given me or sanctioned for me to have. But I get it - she's being abundantly cautious so that I'm delivered safely to my forever people. So, I spend the night in the crate. The first night I cried and barked. The 2nd night I carried on for a little. Last night I barked a few times but knew it wouldn't work so stopped. I don't make it a big deal when she tosses the treat into the crate and tells me to go in.
6) I like to be really close to her, and I follow her around like a puppy dog even though I'm a dog dog.
7) I am on guard. I go between "super chill" and "gotta make sure whatever caused that noise is an okay thing." Part of my breeding is that I protect and guard. Another part is that I'm demonstrably affectionate. I just want to make sure that everything is okay in every which way. 8) I don't react negatively to fireworks. Of course, they make me uncomfortable, but I did my last potty pee last night with fireworks going off and was okay. Not okay like a gun dog might be, but I wasn't shaking, trembling or hiding. Not during any of it. Mom didn't even break out the ThunderShirt.

Mom says that I'm really a "ready to go" dog - ready for you. There are some other things that you should know about me. I will require frequent brushing and may require regular professional grooming. I am big - about 62 pounds and totally sleek and fit. If dogs could have 6-pack abs, I'd have them but in a very sleek model. I love love love people, but Mom hasn't seen me around kids, small kids, cats, etc. I walk super nicely on a leash, using a Gentle Leader halter, (and I have a very nice "strut".) I'm working on confidence in my new home regarding people walking by - especially with dogs - but I'm making progress. It's just something that I'll need you to work with me on - positive reinforcement, skill on your part, and patience - but I'll get it. (Foster Mom can point you in a good direction for developing those skills.) I'm super sweet and affectionate but - like everyone - I need to be respected, appreciated, and have time spent with me. My previous owners surrendered me because now they have a business and 3 kids and didn't have enough time to spend with me. At least they recognized this, but it broke my heart. I don't wanna go through that again. I've got this awesome constellation of power traits that I'll share with you. I need for you to share your awesome powers with me, too.

Please check the Jr's Pups N Stuff facebook page for updates, videos, pictures, etc. Or better yet, contact Jr's to arrange for a visit. I want to meet you. If you read this far, it might be that we're both looking for the same type of relationship.
