*BEING TREATED FOR EHRLICHIA*
Meet Chief, the handsome Beagle mix. This almost 40-pound, 8-year-young old boy has had a tough time but is ready for a fresh start in a forever home. Chief was found as a stray, wandering the streets in search of a safe place to call his own. Thankfully, a kind citizen brought him to our shelter, where we have been taking great care of him.
Despite his rough past, Chief is full of love and affection. He may be shy and nervous in new situations, but with a little time and patience, he will blossom into a loyal and loving companion. Chief is extremely affectionate and craves belly rubs from his people. Once he trusts you, he will be your loyal shadow, always by your side.
Don't let his age fool you, Chief is an active and playful boy. He loves to run and play in our yards, showing off his silly and energetic side. He is still learning to walk on a leash, but with some gentle guidance, he will be a pro in no time. Chief is also friendly towards other dogs and done well with the ones he has met.
Chief has been through a lot, and as a result, he has tested positive for Ehrlichia, a treatable infection. But don't let that discourage you, he is currently undergoing treatment and will soon be as healthy as ever. We believe that with the right environment and lots of love, Chief will thrive and make a wonderful addition to any family.We are looking for a patient and understanding home for Chief, where he can slowly adjust and come out of his shell.
Chief has been neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested, dewormed, and brought current on all his vaccinations. He's also on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm preventatives.
