Axel is the lovable, hilarious guy you didn't know you needed in your life. We named him axel (like the figure skating jump) because man, this guy can get some air!

Axel is a super active guy looking for a home that is able to keep up with his exercise needs. Being a high energy guy Axel displays some anxious tendencies that needs consistent exercise and mental stimulations to make sure he can be the best guy he cane be. The tendencies include a bit of barking and whining and being a bit of an escape artist if he is just left alone outside. Who wants to be left alone anyways? He wants to be where the action is, so much so he can scale our 8 ft kennels. Axel is a very human driven dog and just wants to please and do his job... whatever that job may be.. he would love to figure that out. He would love to try his hand in a dog sport, or obedience, something to give him structure or purpose in his life (besides, you, his faithful owner of course).

Besides being an active fella he is affectionate and goofy and extremely smart. He loves to get the zoomies and do a flying leap past you to make sure you've seen how fast he is. We must never forget that he is in our presence. Axel does have an off switch, once his energy is properly expelled. He will lay down and hangout as long as he's with his fearless leader! He also is quite well behaved, he knows some basic commands and walks extremely well on leash. He pays no attention to other dogs while on a walk for when he's passing by other kennels. We think he could do well with another active dog in the home as long as you make sure to dedicate some time specifically to him, whether that be training or a dog sport.

Axel is very even tempered, high strung, but very respectful. We have not tested him with children but we think he would be okay, as long as the kids are not too young as he is a bouncy guy and may knock them over, and they are used to being around dogs. The other notable quirk about axel is that he is a little timid when meeting new people, being a shepherd mix this is expected as the breed fiercely bonds with their people. It only takes a few minutes for him to get used to strangers and then you have a friend forever!

If you think your home could be the right fit for Axel please call us to set up an appt to meet him!
