"Why she is a pearl, whose price hath launched a thousand ships, and turned crowned kings to merchants." - Shakespeare
Our resident queen, Pearl, is looking for her forever home. Pearl came to the shelter as a stray and we have no idea why no one came looking for her. She is a gorgeous loving girl that deserves a caring family to call her own, after all a Peal is worthless as long as its in its shell. And Pearl.. she has so much to offer, if someone would give her a chance.
Pearl is a very well behaved and well mannered girl. We can assume she once had a nice home as she knows her basic commands. She is very food motivated and enthusiastic to learn so she has the potential for so much with a little time and effort. She is also quite good on a leash. Pearl would not like to share a home with another dog. She can be reactive to to dogs, though she is pretty reserved on a leash and is easily redirected. A bit of training to get her going in the right direction is key.
Are you looking a dog that just wants to be with you and love you? Whether you're go, go, go one day, or a zoned out coach potato the next Pearl is your girl. She has a fair bit of energy and at times can be busy but a good walk everyday day and some tug-o-war or zoomies in the backyard with a jolly ball is how she loves to get her energy out. The rest of the time she wants to be sun bathing in the backyard with you, bear hugged on top of you watching a movie or just checking out what's going on with everyone in the home. The key to her happiness is unconditional love, just like she'll love you :) If you are familiar with the terrier/bully type breeds you'll know how fiercely loyal they are to their family and the ones they trust. Because of these qualities they can be quite pushy, so we are looking for a strong person that is not afraid to set boundaries with Pearl and show her that they are the leader, breed experience is preferred.
One thing to consider with Pearl, like many other terriers/bullys, she may have some environmental and/or food allergies. This is evident as she has some hair thinning on her back. She is now eating a proper, consistent diet here at the shelter so we are monitoring her, she does not seem bothered or itchy though intervention may be a possibility. A special diet and/or medication may be needed in the future but we cant be sure right now.
If you have any questions about Pearl, or think you can give her the home she deserves please call us to make an appointment to meet her.
