Mongoose is a 1 year old, 47 pound sweetheart who is quietly learning that the world can be kind. He came from a hoarding case where he only lived outside and never truly knew a gentle human touch. Because of that, he can be shy at first, but underneath that cautious exterior is a very sweet boy who wants to trust.
Mongoose is laid back and low energy, with a calm presence that makes him easy to be around. He has been great on leash and does well in his kennel. He is very treat motivated, which has helped him build confidence and continue learning that people can bring good things into his life. Once he feels comfortable, he will approach for affection and his soft, grateful nature really shines through.
He is most comfortable around other dogs and would need a home with another dog or two to help him continue gaining confidence. He has been sweet with other dogs at the shelter and is even beginning to offer a few playful bows as he learns how to just be a dog. Each day he grows a little braver.
Mongoose has spent his life in neglect and filth, but he will never have to live that way again. He deserves a warm, safe, and cozy home where he can rest his head, feel secure, and continue blossoming into the wonderful companion he is meant to be. With patience, kindness, and a gentle heart, Mongoose will reward his family with quiet loyalty and endless gratitude.
