Hey, I'm Kai-a 72-pound German Shepherd and Husky mix with a gentle heart and a big, sweet soul. I might come off as a little reserved at first, but don't let that fool you-once I feel safe, I'm all about affection. I'll lean my whole body into you when you pet me, and I've got this adorable side-to-side wiggle when you hit just the right spot (hint: butt scratches!). I'm extremely polite and well-mannered, though I definitely carry that classic Husky sass-it's part of my charm. I know my name and I love being outdoors, whether it's for a walk, a good sniff session, or just watching the world go by. I'm not super playful here at the shelter, but I think I'll open up more once I find a family that gives me time and space to trust. I'm a big, active boy who needs room to move, so apartments aren't really my thing. I do best with a confident, patient person or family who understands that I need a little time to warm up. Fast movements or people reaching right for me can make me nervous, so I appreciate slow intros-sitting down and letting me come to you is the way to go. I have an independent streak and enjoy doing my own thing, but when I'm ready for love, I'll come over and soak up all the affection you've got. Small kids might be a bit much for me due to my sensitivities, but if you're calm, kind, and willing to take things at my pace, I promise I'll be your most loyal and loving companion. With patience, I'll become your best friend for life.
My adoption fee of $225+tax covers the cost of my care and stay here at the humane society.
All Pennington County residents must also pay an additional $8 licensing fee at time of adoption.
