Hey there! I'm Riley-a 41-pound Chesapeake Bay Retriever mix with a heart that's finally starting to shine through. When I first arrived at the shelter, I was scared and completely shut down. The world felt a little too big and overwhelming for me. But now? I'm blossoming every day! I come right up to greet you, leash up like a pro, and walk right out of my kennel with a little tail wag. I'm not super food-motivated, but give me a squeaky toy and I'll be in heaven-seriously, I'll carry it around and squeak it non-stop! I love being pet, especially those magical butt scratches, and I'll gently lean my whole body into you, swaying from side to side with joy. I'm very affectionate once I trust you, and I'll happily follow new people around the room, curious and quietly checking them out. I'm an active and adventurous girl who loves being outside and knowing what everyone's up to. I do still need slow introductions with new faces and situations, and I can get overwhelmed if too much happens too fast. That's why I'm looking for a calmer, more experienced home-no small kids, please-where people will respect my boundaries and give me the time and space I need to adjust. I've come such a long way, and with just a little patience and understanding, I promise I'll keep showing more and more of the sweet, loyal companion I really am. Let's take life at my pace-one squeaky toy and gentle pet at a time.
My adoption fee of $225+tax covers the cost of my care and stay here at the humane society.
All Pennington County residents must also pay an additional $8 licensing fee at time of adoption.
