Hi, I'm Patience - a 36-pound Border Collie mix with a heart as gentle as my name suggests. I'm a very sweet girl, but right now I'm feeling pretty shy and overwhelmed in the shelter environment. I do best with slow introductions and a calm, understanding presence - I'll come up to you when I'm ready, I promise. Once I start to feel safe, I love belly rubs (especially when I'm stalling and not quite ready to go inside!). I'm very curious and enjoy sniffing around and taking in my surroundings, and I'm just as content to lay down and quietly hang out next to you. Even though I seem calm and reserved right now, don't forget - I'm a Border Collie mix, which means I've got the potential for high energy and sharp intelligence when I fully come out of my shell. I'll need a home that understands my breed's needs and can give me the mental stimulation and activity I'll crave as I grow more confident. I came to the shelter very shut down, and I'll need a peaceful, patient home to decompress at my own pace. I'm also missing a back foot, but don't worry - I still get around just fine! I'm ready to find a soft place to land with someone who'll love me for who I am and help me blossom into the vibrant, loyal girl I know I can be.
My adoption fee of $225+tax covers the cost of my care and stay here at the humane society.
All Pennington County residents must also pay an additional $8 licensing fee at time of adoption.
Happy Adopting!
