We are very happy and excited to have Mac in our family. We knew Mac had some aggression issues before adopting him, and we are confident that he will overcome his occasional behavior issues. Mac is adjusting well to our home, and he is a sweet boy as long as there are no visiting dogs or adult males. He is stand-offish with adult males, and will become aggressive if approached quickly. Mac rushes visiting dogs, but will warm up to them with a careful introduction. Mac has become a great buddy to our 13 year old Lab-mix, Chance.
I have been seeking advice from two professional trainers regarding Mac's aggression behaviors, and we are working very diligently with him. As they say, the training is for the handler, and Mac's aggression is no fault of his own. It is simply a behavior that has gone un-checked in the past. Mac is coming along great in his progress, and we believe he will adjust fine in time. After getting Mac, we were unable to walk him due to his constant pulling and lunging. After we learned how to correctly use a Gentle Leader head collar, Mac became a very well mannered walker. Mac now needs very little effort by the handler, (my 6 year old daughter can control him while he is wearing it).
