Blue has been with us a full 12 days now and he has adapted well. He has
full run of the house, with no accidents or markings. He has claimed the
spare bed in my home office upstairs and when he is tired, he goes up there
to sleep all by himself. He gets along well with Abbie, our nearly
11-year old Black Lab. Per the correct recommendation of the foster
family, he is enrolled in obedience classes. It was at the first class
that we discovered he knows all kinds of commands! When there are treats,
Blue listens well! So now we need to get him to listen without treats.
This is difficult for him when there is so much to investigate in our 5
acres of woods. He absolutely loves walking through the trails, smelling
deer and raccoons and turkey and squirrels! Wherever Blue goes he attracts
attention, so we need to plan extra time for everyone to pet him and ask
about him. Great advertising for the Upper Midwest Great Dane Rescue!
Tomorrow Blue goes to our veterinarian for the first time to get him in
their records and to make sure his recent neutering is nearly healed. I
am sure he will draw a lot of attention and I will plan an extra 30 minutes
to be away from work! THANKS TO ALL OF YOU! Blue has healed our sadness
after our yellow lab, Rusty, passed in early March.
