We're on day 3 and I have to say he is doing excellent. Darci and Thomas(2) are at work/daycare today so Hannah(6) and I are going to be in and out today, but hanging around with Deuce most of the day. Day 1 was a lot of getting used to each other. Deuce still really wants to play and jump around, but he's learning quickly not to do so. The kids are pretty comfortable with him and I think he figured out they just run around and he likes to watch them.
We've been taking him on short one block walks, he seems to like that and it calms him. We have to avoid the park because he gets too excited when he sees other dogs.
Turns out he loves the kennel. The first night we tried having him sleep in our room but after a lot of up and down, in and out of the room, we decided to try to the kennel so we all could get some sleep. We never heard a peep from him and he just wandered out in the AM. Later that morning he went back in on his own to take a nap.
His leg seems to be doing well. The raw spot is still there. I bandage it and he tears it off, but he's been keeping the bandage on longer. He does very little licking at this point.
He and out other dog have gotten to know each other through the fence and at this point Deuce just kind of gives him one sniff and moves on. Corbin really want to mingle so it's hard to keep them apart. I'm sure you know that story well.
Otherwise it's going really well. We are amazed at how much he has mellowed in 2 days, I think he's very comfortable. We can tell he's already protective of us. We feel very blessed to have him in our family.
